Hay New Zealand!

  1. When I was young, my grandfather had a farm. Lots of wheat and sheep. Trips down to the Canterbury plains in the South Island I remember well- all blazing golden wheat fields and sheep dotting every hill.

It’s mostly dairy cows now. That’s where the money is (although the world milk market is up-and-down), but it is having a terrible effect on the rivers and lakes, many of which are unsafe for swimming now. Such a thing was almost unheard of when I was a boy.

Beer has changed. Used to be that two main breweries shared most of the market with beverages of questionable quality. There has been a craft beer revolution over the last 5-10 years, though and some very fine new brews. I’ve noticed that!

We are much more Politically Correct now, too. Sadly.

And NZ is far more multicultural.
