Yak

Yak means giant.

‘The Yak can read a person’s heart. The Yak knows if you mean to desecrate the temple or cause harm to the priests or worshippers. Although the Yak may appear as a statue, he can come alive if necessary. He may come upon you later as you walk in another place or as you sleep in your bed at night. If the Yak wants to find you he will find you. He prevents evil from coming into the sacred place or heart.”

‘Some Thai believe that the Yak offer protection, not only to the temples or the Grand Palace, but also to the humble Buddhist who seeks the assistance of the giant guardian.’
